San Jose Fireworks | Sarah Delwood Photography

Growing up, fireworks on Independence day were always something fun to do, but never a “We must do this or explode!” kind of activity. So when I moved out on my own, finding a place to watch colorful explosions around town wasn’t high on my list. In fact, I think the last time I went to fireworks was when I was still living at home! So this year, I had a fun opportunity to try again with some friends. My dear hubby has been out of town this week, so rather than sit at home alone on a Friday (and a holiday!) I met up with some friends from college! I’ve been wanting to try out some new skilz in shooting fireworks, but due to a delicious steak dinner, American-themed temporary tattoos, and two adorable little girls in precious red, white, and blue dresses, we didn’t quite have time to set up to see the show at Almaden Lake Park. (These are all very good reasons to be running behind!) So I didn’t get to use my tripod, but I think some of my handheld shots turned out pretty fun! Looking forward to trying again next year.

Enjoy!
